Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT

The primary mission of the Center is to address the mental health needs of children and their caretakers through a comprehensive outpatient counseling and community education program. A key component of the Center's philosophy is that services be affordable, culturally and linguistically appropriate and directed towards the high risk, low income, under-served population in the community. Our goals are to alleviate the trauma of child abuse and mental illness, promote primary prevention skills, and encourage the development of health family relationships.

The following is a statement of values adopted by the Board of Directors  May 23, 1990.

We, the Staff and Board of Directors of Community Family Guidance Center share the belief that we should strive to:

  • establish and maintain an atmosphere of dignity and acceptance for those we serve regardless of their stage of life or economic condition.

  •
  • provide equitable/accessible service to alleviate mental and emotional distress.

  •
  • provide positive interventions to preserve and enhance the quality of life for our clients and our community.

  •
  • prevent disabling events in the lives of children.

  •
  • show compassion for children and advocate for their rights.

  •
  • support, encourage and educate parents as they face the challenge of child rearing.

  •
  • be sensitive to the diverse cultures of the communities we serve.

  •
  • secure adequate resources to enable us to carry out our mission.

  •
  • exercise good judgment and seek wise counsel to ensure that the service we provide is excellent.
